Date Announced for First Ever Basketball Event at the University of Phoenix Stadium

Double Header Event to Take Place on Saturday December 20th
Phoenix, Ariz. – With the release of the 2008 National Football League schedule on April 15th, Northwest Sports & Entertainment has announced that the 2008 Stadium Shootout will take place on Saturday December 20, 2008.
The first ever basketball event held at the University of Phoenix Stadium will feature four high-quality programs, all of which won at least 20 games and participated in a post season tournament during the 2007-08 season. The first match up consists of the University of Louisville Cardinals taking on the Golden Gophers from the University of Minnesota. The second game pits the Brigham Young University Cougars against the Arizona State University Sun Devils.
University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, is the site of this historic game.
The December 20th date occurs during week 16 of the NFL season, during which the Cardinals will be on the road visiting the New England Patriots. The Saturday December 20th date worked best for all Universities with finals complete while allowing the Stadium to house the basketball event without complication from having to get ready for a football game the same weekend. Game times are still to be determined.
Details regarding National television contracts are continually being discussed and once the contracts are finalized, the times will be announced. Official on-sale date for tickets is September 27th.
