DETAILS:U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will welcome 2,179 area residents during a special citizenship ceremony at the University of Phoenix Stadium on Wednesday, November 19 at 10:00 AM. The citizenship candidates, eleven of whom are members of the military, hail from 117 countries.
USCIS holds naturalization ceremonies in locations with a special significance or relationship to that which is “American”. The stadium was chosen as a fitting venue for welcoming new U.S. citizens because it embodies typically American pastimes and values. It is home to the Arizona Cardinals Football Club, a member of the National Football League.
During Fiscal Year 2008, USCIS naturalized total of 1,051,640 new U.S. citizens, almost 24,000 in Arizona.

Citizenship candidates and families will begin arriving around 8:30 a.m. and will be available for one-on-one interviews before and after the ceremony. USCIS representatives will also be available.
