UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX STADIUM FLIPS OUT OVER 2009 HARD ROCK INVITATIONAL

Largest Gymnastics Meet in the West Will Be the First Gymnastics Meet Ever Hosted in a Superbowl Stadium

(GLENDALE, AZ --- January 20, 2009)  Global Spectrum, in conjunction with Arizona Sunrays Gymnastics & Dance Center, announced today that the Hard Rock Invitational, the largest gymnastics meet in the West, will be held in the University of Phoenix Stadium February 13-15, 2009. The three-day event will feature several of the nation’s elite gymnasts and top gymnastics teams.  The event will be the first gymnastics meet ever held in a football stadium.

Only months after the United States Olympic Gymnastics team’s participation in Beijing, several of the future stars of U.S. gymnastics will be in attendance.  Over 1600 gymnasts from 32 states and Canada are set to compete.  On Saturday, February 14, 2009, the meet will host its traditional “Spotlight Session” with college-bound gymnasts competing in a top national-caliber showdown.

In addition to the top-caliber gymnastics competition, the meet also offers gymnasts and spectators a true “hard rock” experience with a rock-n-roll theme during the competition.  Bands play during the gymnasts’ warm up periods prior to selected sessions.  In addition, following the Saturday night Spotlight Session, local Phoenix band favorite “Gooder” is scheduled to perform a concert for the gymnasts and spectators.  Gooder was a finalist in the 2008 Phoenix Battle of the Bands and offers a great family-friendly concert experience for all ages.  The 2008 Hard Rock Invitational also hosted “We the Living”, one of the top young bands from the Midwest.  Tickets for the event are only $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors and children 5-12.  Children under 5 are free.

“This will be a fun and affordable experience for any fans who enjoy gymnastics, top athletic competition and rock concerts all rolled into one,” said Dan Witenstein, owner of Arizona Sunrays Gymnastics & Dance Center. “The stadium offers the greatest gymnastics venue ever offered to gymnastics competitors and spectators alike.”

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the University of Phoenix Stadium Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster charge by phone at (480) 784-4444, and online @ www.ticketmaster.com.  For more information about the event visit www.hardrockinvitational.com.  For more information about University of Phoenix Stadium visit www.universtiyofphoenixstadium.com.

“We are always looking for new and creative ways to utilize the stadium and offer athletic competition that all of the public can enjoy,” said Global Spectrum’s Peter C. Sullivan, General Manager of University of Phoenix Stadium. “We felt this was a great opportunity and a unique event to add to our calendar on the heels of the Olympic gymnastics competition.”
